Third Person Sample: [Third person log format, any situation, any setting. Feel free to use NPC's. 3 or more paragraphs.]
Marks: Gibbs will have an 'R' for 'revenge' on the back of his right hand. This is both for the unsanctioned kill of Pedro Hernandez and for the obsessive way he hunts Ari Haswari and other criminals who cross him.

Fandom: NCIS
Name: Leroy Jethro Gibbs
Canon Point: End of episode 2.22 - "SWAK"
History: http://ncis.wikia.com/wiki/Leroy_Jethro_Gibbs
Personality:
PROTECTIVE: First and foremost, Gibbs is a protector. Nothing gets him angrier than someone threatening or hurting one of his people. After the loss of his first wife and his daughter, Gibbs has become almost pathological in his need to keep safe the people most important to him. In lieu of an actual family, his team and his friends have become his family and he will go to any lengths to ensure their safety.
THE SECOND 'B' IS FOR 'BASTARD': That doesn't mean he's a nice guy. Deep, deep down under the surface, he's got a gooey center, but the front he puts up -- and that most people see -- is a no-nonsense, hard-assed bastard who will just as easily slap someone upside the head as he will look at them.
He is sparing with praise and often has a sharp, sarcastic remark or insult to dish out. Genuine, heart-felt praise is rare; he prefers actions to words and will most often show his approval through looks, nods, and gestures.
The only people he shows overt affection for are Abby and Ducky, although when any one of his team is injured or threatened, his concern is obvious and genuine. The concern often manifests as anger and growling. Gibbs doesn't like feeling helpless or out of control of a situation.
He has been known to make people cry (USMC soldiers while he was a Gunnery Sergent/DI and a few probies while at NCIS), make criminals quake (during interrogations), and make some women carry lifelong grudges (see also: his three ex-wives).
JUSTICE ABOVE LAW: Gibbs is not above bending the rules into unrecognizable shapes in order to make sure the guilty party pays. He doesn't often break the law outright, but sometimes he takes it to its edge. The red-tape, loop holes, and painfully slow wheels of justice often frustrate him and have intensified (along with his divorces) his hatred of lawyers.
HIS GUT: Sometimes, he just knows things... when someone is lying, when there's more to a case than meets the eye, when someone he cares about is in trouble.
GIBBS/COFFEE OTP: Rule #23 - Never mess with a Marine's coffee if you want to live.
Gibbs takes his coffee very seriously. In fact, he is rarely seen without it. Few know what he's like without his daily, steady intake of caffeine and even fewer are willing to risk it.
SECRETIVE: To say that Gibbs plays things close to the vest would be a monumental understatement. He is not a man who is willing to explain himself or his motives. When he gives an order, he expects it to be followed without question. This sometimes gets him into trouble when he's being particularly obsessive over some case or another and the brave few who are willing to speak up to him (mostly DiNozzo and Ducky) have to step in and course correct.
He doesn't like to talk about personal things, especially his own. While he's willing to offer an ear to bend when one of his team needs it, he doesn't open up about his own life very often. This explains how his team manages to work with him for various lengths of time (some decades) and not know about his first wife and daughter.
DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO: Some rules, like Rule #3, are meant to be broken... but only by Gibbs. He has no qualms about being unreachable if he thinks he's protecting his team, but there will be hell to pay if any of them ever fail to answer when he calls. Never apologize is a rule he breaks infrequently, but it does happen. He's also known to go off without backup, although he raises hell if members of his team ever do the same.
THE RULES: Gibbs has a list of RULES by which he lives his life and he expects his team to respect the rules as well. Thus far in canon, only 30 have been revealed (not in order) and, while some of them were revealed in episodes beyond this Gibbs' canon point, I'm including them all since I'm assuming he already knows them all (except for Rule #51 which wasn't created until season 7), they just haven't all been discussed yet.
Popular fanon theory is that there are duplicate Rules 1 and 3 because Gibbs both kept one of his mentor Mike Franks' versions and made one of his own. It's not specified which is which, but it's believed that "never screw over your partner" and "don't believe what you're told... double check" are the Gibbs rules, while "never let suspects stay together" and "never be unreachable" are the Franks rules.
Skills | Powers:
LANGUAGES: Fluent in English, ASL (American Sign Language), Russian, and Japanese. He can identify many other languages and knows a few key phrases in French, Arabic, Kurdish, and German, but is not fluent or conversational.
WEAPONS: A former USMC sniper, he is an expert with most long range rifles, although he prefers the M40A1 that he used in the corps. He is also proficient in the use of most military and law enforcement issue sidearms, but prefers the SIG Sauer P228 (primary) and Smith & Wesson Model 37 (backup) he carries as an agent with NCIS. He is also never without a knife of some sort, usually with an easy open, one-hand deployment blade.
COMBAT: Highly trained in US Marine hand-to-hand combat techniques ("The corps doesn't teach boxing, DiNozzo, they teach fighting"), as well as tracking and evasion.
LEADERSHIP: Gibbs is a consummate leader, engendering fierce loyalty in those he keeps around him. He is known as a 'legend' at NCIS, although he is feared and loathed as much as he is admired.
TECHNOLOGY: ... is his Kryptonite. He has destroyed numerous cell phones, beaten many computers into submission (or into pieces). His preferred method of dealing with computers is to shoot it or unplug it.
MISC: Can drive manual and automatic transmission. Is an excellent woodwork craftsman with a special interest in boats and wooden toys.
